Columnist C.J. Geotis’ boat the EP-2 (short for Extravagant Promises II) has just come back from the boat doctor. He and a few friends take photos of each other’s boats when they’re on the water. This is even more fun when friends and families are onboard. Try it; you’ll like it.

So far, 2025 has been a rather difficult, if not just surprising and confusing year. Of course, I’m talking about how it pertains to my fishing life. Now that I think about it everything pertains to my fishing life. I’m a fishing fool. Moved to the Florida Keys 25 years ago, with the primary goal of fishing as much as I possibly could.
When I first started fishing in the Keys, I was very surprised to see how different it was from fishing off Port Canaveral. Starting with, I had to trailer the EP-2 more than an hour-and-a-half from my Orlando home, launch the boat, spend another hour in crowded boat-ramp lines, then motor out 25 miles to reach a depth of 125 feet. There was a NOAA belled sea buoy that marked the spot. With all this said, the fishing was very good. This was where I learned to troll for big-game-offshore fish. But things didn’t change much off Port Canaveral. Same old, same old.
