JACKSONVILLE — The Marathon High School track and field team garnered four individual medals at the FHSAA 1A State Championship Meet at the University of North Florida on Saturday, May 10. Lady Fins junior Justice Lee Isom captured three of the four, placing second in the shot put, third in the discus throw and eighth in the javelin throw.

In the shot put, Lee Isom surpassed her previous lifetime best in the first round, threw farther in the third round, and farther still in the fourth and final round, with her best effort taping out to 12.38 meters (40 feet, 6.25 inches), a full 2 feet beyond her previous existing school record. She held the lead until the very final throw of the shot put competition when she was edged out by 6 inches to take second. Her best throw in the discus traveled 37.70 meters (123 feet, 8 inches), just 3 inches shy of her school record in the event, to place third.
