MARATHON — The May 13 Marathon City Council meeting opened with good news: a reimbursement of $122,978 from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in unspent funds. Capt. Derek Paul of Marathon presented the funds.

Immediately subsequent was a discussion that led to agreement that the city would donate $10,000 to Fair Insurance Rates for Monroe, known as FIRM, which lobbies for lower homeowners insurance rates and the like.
