KEY COLONY BEACH — The Key Colony Beach City Commission on April 14 approved a resolution for continued participation in the Middle Keys Health Care Municipal Service Taxing Unit (MSTU), which was established by Monroe County to assist Baptist Health with the redevelopment of Fishermen’s Community Hospital after Hurricane Irma.

With its passage, the city requested the county reduce by ordinance the current property tax rate to an amount that would generate approximately $896,111, which also was requested by the city of Marathon. The goal is to generate the necessary revenue to satisfy, but not exceed, the remaining financial commitment under the MSTU agreement of $15 million.
