Florida’s bat maternity season, when most of the state’s bats give birth and raise their young, began April 16 and lasts until Aug. 14 each year.

Florida’s 13 native and beneficial bat species typically roost in trees, caves or other natural spaces, but are sometimes attracted to buildings and other human-made structures, including buildings still undergoing construction.
