U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Jo-Ann F. Burdian assumed command of Joint Interagency Task Force-South (JIATF-S) on Wednesday, June 5, the first Latina to take the helm of the multiagency force.
Rear Admiral Burdian takes over for U.S. Coast Guard Rear Adm. Mark Fedor, who assumed the post in 2022, in a change of command ceremony at the Tennessee Williams Theater on the campus of The College of the Florida Keys. The ceremony was presided over by Gen. Laura J. Richardson, Commander of U.S. Southern Command.
