The South American proposal for the 2030 World Cup to feature 64 teams has received a serious blow with CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani rejecting the idea.

The head of South American football's governing body CONMEBOL called on FIFA to expand the 2030 World Cup to 64 nations on Thursday in a one-off gesture as the tournament celebrates its 100th anniversary.

Adam Peaty announced Wednesday he intends to compete at a fourth Olympics after six new swimming events were added to the 2028 Los Angeles Games in what he called "an amazing decision."
